Located on the north coast of Durban in the exclusive Zimbali Estate and coastal nature reserve, Zimbali is a luxury five star resort that boasts breathtaking views overlooking the Indian Ocean. The contemporary interior design follows a philosophy taken from its lush natural indigenous surroundings; warm woods, russet autumn tones and organic shapes accentuate the connection to nature.  A sense of craft is consistent through the project, evident in the timber and stone details, the turned decorative spindles that lightly hang from the ceiling or robustly clad the walls, and the carved resin column details. Paying homage to the area, traditional Zulu shapes are re-interpreted with modern organic forms that decorate the ceiling of the all-day dining. The care and detail embraced runs through well-appointed luxury rooms, a beach club, the signature restaurant and all-day dining, and the Heritage villa’s, depicting a lifestyle that is founded on serenity and tranquillity and a design language that is applied to reflect this overall feeling.
